Before you call
It helps to have:
- Your address or nearest cross streets, so the request goes to a builder who covers it
- New deck, repair, or full replacement, and roughly what size
- Wood or composite, if you've already got a preference
- How high the deck sits off the ground and whether it attaches to the house
- A photo or two of the house or the existing deck, if you have them
Railing wobbles or a board gave way? Rope off that part of the deck and keep kids, pets and guests off it until it's been looked at. A guard that moves when you lean on it shouldn't wait for next season.
